Courage and Inspiration Award

Chad Juros Each year, the Women’s Board of the American Cancer Society honors a cancer survivor who has been an inspiration to others with the Courage and Inspiration Award. Past recipients include Senator Arlen Specter and Vince Papale. This year, the Women’s Board is proud to present this award to Chad Juros.

Chad is a leukemia relapse/brain surgery survivor who spent a large part of his childhood in the hospital. During this time, Chad’s father taught him magic tricks to divert his attention from his illness. After his recovery, Chad’s talent became the highlight of family gatherings, and at age seven, he started performing at venues such as the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Chad’s father passed away shortly after Chad’s recovery, and he has served as an inspiration for Chad to continue spreading magic to others.

Chad has had the privilege to perform at The White House, celebrity golf tournaments, Criss Angel’s Mindfreak television show, Philadelphia Eagles Fly events, and hundreds of others around the world. Chad is a full-time college student and the recipient of many awards including the 76ers Hometown Hero Award. He is the founder of the Spread the Magic Foundation, which raises money for pediatric cancer research.
